Design & Technology

At Long Lawford Primary School, we believe that through Design & Technology (DT), children should develop skills and knowledge that prepare them for the wider world.

Children will complete a DT project each half term, focusing on a range of areas, including:

  • Textiles

  • Mechanisms

  • Structures

  • Cooking & Nutrition

  • Computer aided design

National Curriculum for DT

  • Children should use ‘creativity and imagination’ to ‘design and make products that solve real and relevant problems’.

  • In DT, children make links with ‘mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art”.

  • Can write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences

  • Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens
