Safeguarding

Long Lawford Primary School Safeguarding Commitment

At Long Lawford Primary School, we prioritize the safety and well-being of children and young people above all else. We firmly expect every member of our staff and volunteer team to uphold this commitment without exception. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare.  Concerns will be discussed with parents / carers first unless we are advised by police and/or social care not to.

Safeguarding Procedure

Our Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs N Hetherington (deputy head teacher).  She is assisted in this role by 5 other deputy DSLs:  Mr L Pegley, Mrs J McSweeney, Mrs C Bird and Mrs C Stringer. The number for the Children and Families Front Door (formerly known as MASH - Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) is 01926 414144.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a police and education early information safeguarding partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support to children experiencing domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass ensures that there is a simple telephone call or notification to a school’s trained Designated Safeguarding Lead /Officer (known as Key Adult) prior to the start of the next school day after an incident of police attended domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties involved.

Information is shared with a school’s Key Adult (Designated Safeguarding Lead or Officer) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident. This sharing of information enables appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.

Long Lawford Primary School is an Operation Encompass school. More information about Operation Encompass can be found here.

Online Safety

Online Safety is an important part of safeguarding and we want to ensure that all students and staff at Long Lawford School are responsible online citizens both in and out of school. Everyone is encouraged to do what they can to make the Internet a better place and to make sure they keep themselves safe when using the Internet, particularly when using games, apps and websites which allow social interaction. We also want to make sure that all pupils are accessing content and playing games which are age appropriate and ask for the help of parents with this.

We are aware that children will be using technology a lot to help with their learning. If you have any concerns relating to Online Safety, please contact the school. Alternatively, the CEOP website has lots of information.

Photos in School

Some children in our school do not have any photo permissions given for a variety of reasons. Due to this, we are a 'no phone zone'.  We ask that parents/carers/visitors refrain from taking photos and videos of their children when on school grounds during events such as parties, discos, assemblies, and sports competitions.

At certain times, as directed by senior staff, you will be invited to take images. Parents are not welcome to video record their own children during school activities, subject to the same terms and conditions as for photographs above.

Additionally, school staff will check at least annually with parents/carers regarding photo permissions.  Parents/carers will be told how their child's photographs will be used and can give or withdraw consent as they see fit.  School staff will abide by wishes made by parents/carers.  Further information can be found in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.  If you reconsider your child’s photo permissions, you can contact the school at any time to discuss further.

We also ask that parents/carers do not use their phones on school site whilst dropping off or picking up children at the start and end of the school day.  Please wait until you are off school site to make and receive calls. We ask that parents greet their child with a smile, not a mobile.
